Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Provision
We provide a nurturing environment where all children are included and supported to reach their full potential. We celebrate the uniqueness of every child, adapting our learning environment, routines, and teaching approaches to remove barriers to learning. All staff follow the SEND Code of Practice (2015) to support the needs of every child. Our dedicated team focuses heavily on early identification. We conduct thorough Two Year Progress Checks and use specific local assessment frameworks (such as the IAELD and VSEND) to identify and support emerging needs early on. We follow the graduated approach, using an 'Assess, Plan, Do, Review' framework. Working together with parents and external specialists (such as speech and language therapists and the Hertfordshire SEND Team) we create specific, measurable targets for your child to enable them to develop and progress. Above all, we value the child’s voice, ensuring their interests and happiness guide everything we do.
More details about our SEND support can be found in our Special Education Needs and Disabilities Policy and on The Hertfordshire Local Offer. https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/microsites/local-offer/early-years-0-5/early-years-ages-0-5.aspx
The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Frankie Boot.

About us
Happy Days Pre-school is a charity-run pre-school, headed by a small committee of volunteers. Happy Days is a fun, nurturing environment where our focus is for children to learn through play, we are an inclusive setting and we welcome children from any religious or cultural background.
All members of our team have lots of experience of working with children, most qualified to Level 3, have full paediatric first aid and safeguarding certificates and are exceptionally caring. They provide high quality care for all the children and meet individual needs. Each child is allocated a keyworker who is a member of staff responsible for tracking progress referring to the Early Years Foundation stage guidance (EYFS) and for relaying information to the child's parents.
Testimonials
"Amazing pre school that goes above and beyond. Wonderful, caring staff. Well planned and engaging activities for the children. My son absolutely loves it !" A.A.
"Thank you sooo much to the lovely Happy Days Team! My little boy is 2 and this has been his introduction into life away from his family. It's like a home from home and I can't thank you enough for all the support you have given us both..... allowing me to stay and play and taking into consideration his silent reflux with regards to his settling in plan. When he is feeling well and himself he is totally LOVING nursery....THANK YOU!" C.B.
"All my children were with the team at happy days for the past few years. My youngest left today and we are all sad. Great bunch of friendly, fun and caring staff." C.M.
"We cannot speak highly enough of our experience with Happy Days! After facing challenges at three previous settings due to our son’s SEN needs, we were understandably cautious of starting anywhere new. But from the very beginning, this team has been nothing short of incredible!
They welcomed our son with open arms, took the time to understand him, and created an environment where he feels truly included and happy. The difference is HUGE - We can tell he enjoys going in which is something we never thought we’d see.
Their dedication, patience, and genuine care have made all the difference for our family. We wholeheartedly recommend this pre-school to any parent, especially those navigating additional needs. It’s a very special place run by special people!" M.W
"My son has had the best experience at Happy Days Pre-school and I’m so pleased we found this ‘hidden gem’. The staff at Happy Days are so kind, caring, patient and nurturing with the children; not only are they completely professional, but they all have personal experience of childcare being parents themselves. Throughout the day, children are not only given ample opportunity to engage and explore in child-led play, but they are also provided with fun and interesting individual/group activities, across a variety of topics, that support them at an age appropriate level. As a parent, I have always felt listened to and have appreciated how flexible they are. The facilities have recently been updated, giving the children more space both inside and outside. I can’t thank Happy Days enough for the experience they have provided us! 100% recommend this pre-school 😃" L.A.
"Such a wonderful pre-school, I cant say enough good things about it. My daughter has been so incredibly happy there. The staff are so nurturing and kind and could not have done more to make her feel settled and happy. We love it and would recommend to anybody." A.V-R.
"Both our children have attended Happy Days and we really recommend them! The staff are all extremely kind and the children love attending." O.T.
